Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum Clears Mexico City for World Cup Opener

Sheinbaum suspended classes Thursday and told most federal employees to work from home as Mexico face South Africa at 1 p.m. local time to open the 104-game World Cup. She said the move aims at “improving conditions for mobility, road safety and accessibility” for residents and tourists. Mexico next face South Korea on June 18, then Czech Republic on June 24.
