Sydney Johnson is happy there will be more basketball for his players and the WNBA, but he has some concerns about a 50-game season. "I’m sensitive to how we'll fit those games into the calendar," Johnson said. Barring those concerns, he's happy to bring more basketball for the fans, and stated that the WNBA has been getting so competitive.

Gene Bess, College Basketball’s Winningest Coach, Dies at 91

Bess, the winningest coach in college basketball history, died Friday at 91, his son Brian announced. Across 50 seasons at Three Rivers College, he went 1,300-416, won NJCAA titles in 1979 and 1992, reached 17 national tournaments and eight Final Fours, coached Latrell Sprewell, and entered the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023 after retiring in 2020.
