NASCAR 101: What Is the Choose Rule?

The choose rule lets drivers select the top or bottom of the track before a restart. Each driver is supposed to pick a lane as a painted orange cone appears on the surface. Chase Elliott said it “makes way more sense” because eventual outcomes rely on decisions, not luck. Added in 2020, it is now a feature at every track.
