NCAA Considering Major Eligibility Overhaul With Age-Based Rule

The NCAA is reportedly proposing a rule giving athletes five years of eligibility starting at age 19 or high school graduation, whichever comes first. Amid lawsuits from players seeking extra seasons via waivers, president Baker said rulings aren’t “fair.” The proposal removes redshirts and exceptions, aiming to stop inconsistent decisions after 1,450 requests and $16M in legal costs.
