NCAA Data Shows How Rare the NFL Dream Really Is

New NCAA data shows just how steep the climb is: only about 1 in 4,000 high school football players ever reach the National Football League. Of over 1 million players, just 83,794 make NCAA rosters (8.1%), and only 3.4% reach Division I. From there, 18,621 are draft-eligible, but just 257 are selected, a 1.4% rate. No Division II or III players were drafted, which says a lot about how narrow that path is.
