NCAA Opens Pathway for 5-7 Teams to Play in Bowl Games

The NCAA's football oversight committee voted Thursday to adopt a proposal that allows conferences the flexibility to choose a 5-7 team that has met certain academic standards to fill bowl game opportunities if there aren't enough other deserving teams. The team must meet the minimum 930 multiyear Academic Progress Rate to be eligible to participate in the postseason.
