NFL Ends Panini Era, Topps Regains Exclusive Trading Card License
Topps is officially back as the NFL’s exclusive trading card licensee, ending Panini America’s 10-year run and restoring full use of team logos and uniforms for the first time since 2016. New releases will feature Rookie Debut patches worn in players’ first NFL games and NFL Gold Shield patches honoring 2024 AP award winners. The first licensed product, Topps Chrome Football, drops April 15, with more releases rolling out through the 2026 season.

“This is football, I mean, there’s no question about that. We have to come up with another name (for the NFL). It isn’t really football,” Trump said. The U.S. is hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup. “We seem never to call it that (Football) because we have a bit of a conflict with another thing that’s called football,” he added.
