NFL Hints Wednesday Season Openers Could Become Annual Tradition

The NFL may continue opening future seasons on Wednesdays after scheduling the 2026 opener between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks for Sept. 8. NFL EVP Hans Schroeder admitted the league hopes to keep expanding weekday primetime games as part of its growing international strategy and partnership with Netflix. The NFL also expects international games to keep increasing.
