NFLPA Avoids Paying NFL’s $14M in Attorneys’ Fees in Collusion Case

Arbitrator Christopher F. Droney rejected the NFL’s effort to force the NFLPA to reimburse roughly $14 million in attorneys’ fees tied to the collusion grievance. The CBA allows fees if a claim lacks “any reasonable basis,” but Droney found sufficient evidence for the union’s filing. The NFLPA’s appeal of the collusion ruling remains pending.
