Nick Castellanos On Brink Of Padres Trade Amid Phillies Salary Squeeze

Castellanos is headed to San Diego, with the Phillies covering nearly all of his $20 million 2026 salary. The Padres will pay only the veteran minimum, about $780,000. The move follows his dip in performance in 2025 and a one-game benching after a clash with Rob Thomson in Miami. Adolis García will replace him in right field in Philadelphia.
