O.J. Simpson Still Owns NFL's Highest Single-Season Rushing Yards-Per-Game Record

O.J. Simpson still holds the NFL record for the highest rushing average in a single season, posting 143.1 yards per game in 1973. Jim Brown ranks second at 133.1 (1963), followed by Walter Payton (132.3), Eric Dickerson (131.6), and Adrian Peterson (131.1). Simpson also appears sixth with 129.8 yards per game during the 1975 season.
