Paul Wight Reveals Why Combat Sports Never Tempted Him After Boxing Training
Wight said wrestling at 21 became his “lottery ticket,” leaving no urge to prove himself in boxing or MMA. During a 2007 WWE break, he trained with Artie Artwell and sparred Oliver McCall, learning, “Fatigue makes cowards of us all.” Respecting Brock Lesnar, John Cena and Ken Shamrock’s combat paths, he admitted, “I’m good at doing the pretend stuff” instead.
