Penn State Turns to Matt Campbell After Lengthy Coaching Search

Penn State is expected to hire Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell, per On3’s Pete Nakos, ending a 53-day search. Campbell will replace interim coach Terry Smith after James Franklin was fired following a 3-3 start. Campbell, 107–70 as a head coach, led Iowa State to five straight bowls and an 11-3 season in 2024 before finishing 8-4 this year.
