Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau Once Backed 54 Holes Before LIV’s 72-Hole Shift

Before LIV Golf announced its move to 72-hole events, Mickelson called 54-hole tournaments “more of a sprint,” saying players must start strong to stay in contention. DeChambeau, meanwhile, said he embraced the “healing power of extra rest” between rounds. Both stars had supported the shorter format, but the change could now boost LIV’s OWGR hopes.
