Phillies Eat $20M and Release Nick Castellanos After Down Year

The Phillies will release Castellanos, who’s owed $20M in the final year of his five-year, $100M deal. His play dipped last season, and he fell out of favor, including a one-game benching after a clash with Rob Thomson. The Phillies signed Adolis García on a one-year deal to take right field. If he clears waivers, Philly will have to pay.
