Real Madrid Pull Back on Schlotterbeck After $57M Clause Expiry and Injury Blow

Real Madrid will reportedly not sign Nico Schlotterbeck this summer after a clause allowing a deal around €50 million ($57.2 million) expired. The Dortmund defender’s hopes of a move were further hit by a long-term injury, after he tore the MCL in his left ankle during Germany’s 2-1 World Cup group-stage win over Ivory Coast.
