Report: Raiders Set to Release Geno Smith Before March 11

Reporter Evan Sidery tweeted that the Raiders will release Smith ahead of the new league year. This will clear the way for No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza. Smith’s 2026-27 salary is set to become fully guaranteed on the third day of the new league year, if not traded or released. In April 2025, the Raiders signed him to a two-year, $75 million extension.
