SEC’s Mark Keenum “Not Optimistic” on 16-Team CFP Deal by December

Mississippi State president Mark Keenum said the SEC stands against automatic College Football Playoff qualifiers, telling ESPN’s Paul Finebaum, “The best teams ought to play.” Keenum, chair of the CFP Board of Managers, added he’s “not very optimistic” about reaching a 16-team deal by Dec. 1 but confirmed negotiations continue among conferences pushing for guaranteed spots.
