Steve Phelps Calls NASCAR’s Global Push ‘Tricky’

“Our brand is very Americana,” said NASCAR Commissioner Phelps, admitting it’s “a bit tricky right now” to sell the sport abroad amid global tensions. Still, he sees promise: “Ours is about a sensory experience, beating and banging.” With events already in Brazil and Canada, he added, “We believe there are other opportunities to create a global racing series.”
