Texas A&M Elevate Lyle Hemphill to Defensive Coordinator Amid Staff Shakeup

With Jay Bateman leaving for Kentucky, Texas is promoting Hemphill to defensive coordinator. Lyle already helped engineer A&M’s elite 2025 defense, allowing 21.9 points and 309.8 yards while ranking top-3 nationally in sacks, TFLs, 3rd-down rate and passing yards allowed. He previously worked under Mike Elko at Duke and joined A&M this season as associate HC of the defense.
