‘That Was Not Necessary’: Novak Djokovic Apologizes After DQ Scare

During his third-round win over Botic van de Zandschulp at the Australian Open, Djokovic apologized after a loose ball he swatted away late in the second set flew near a ball kid at the net. “That was not necessary,” he said. “Was lucky there… I’m sorry for causing any distress.” If it hit the ball kid, officials could’ve disqualified him.
