After edging Hughes by unanimous decision to extend his record to 20-0, Nurmagomedov laughed off claims that the fight was close. “Brother, I think that was 50-44,” he said, insisting the first round was 10-8. While the judges scored it 50-45 and 49-46, many, including McKinney, called it “diabolical.” The champ had earlier dismissed Hughes’ rematch bid but admitted his rival had earned respect.
