Vernon Maxwell on Guarding Michael Jordan: “I Don’t Even Like to Say His Name”

Maxwell said his approach was doing “stuff everybody else wouldn’t want me to do,” including talking nonstop and fouling hard to rattle Jordan. He joked he’d “funnel” drives toward “that big old African,” a nod to having Hakeem Olajuwon behind him in the paint. Maxwell called Jordan “the best ever,” adding, “I don’t even like to say his name.”
