WBC Sanctions Oleksandr Usyk vs. Rico Verhoeven As Title Fight

WBC says Usyk-Verhoeven will be a WBC heavyweight title fight after the board “ruled in favor” of sanctioning a voluntary defense. The approval followed the WBC’s 63rd annual convention in Bangkok, Thailand, and then a petition to make the bout official. It’s a different call than Fury-Ngannou, which wasn’t for Fury’s WBC belt—a rare crossover versus kickboxing champ Verhoeven.
