WWE SmackDown Hits Record Low Viewership Despite John Cena Segment

The Aug 29 episode of WWE SmackDown drew 1.147 million viewers its lowest non-preempted number ever. Down from 1.258M the week prior, the show posted a 0.28 demo rating, trailing only ESPN’s college football. Meanwhile, Zayn’s U.S. Title win hit 2.2M views & Cena’s promo at 997K on YT. Even so, Cena’s nearing retirement with under 8 shows was meant to boost cards, but impact is low.

After dropping to its lowest non-preempted viewership ever at 1.147M a week ago, SmackDown is now nearly sold out for Lee’s WWE return in Rosemont on Sept. 5, with just 64 tickets left of 15,356 and floor seats topping $530. The buzz began when chants erupted after Lynch low-blowed Punk at Clash in Paris. With WWE Shop teasing Lee merch, fans expect her 1st appearance since 2015.
