Yoshinobu Yamamoto Settles After Early Shock to Leave With Japan Ahead
After surrendering Ronald Acuna Jr.’s leadoff homer and falling behind 2-1, Yamamoto recovered to exit with Japan leading 5-2. The right-hander worked four innings, allowed four hits and two earned runs, struck out five and walked one on 69 pitches. He closed with a clean fourth and retired the last six hitters he faced before Japan’s bullpen took over.
