Giants’ No. 5 Pick Arvell Reese Recalls Mother’s Stroke That Changed His Life
Reese, selected No. 5 overall by the Giants, said his mother’s stroke in eighth grade “turned my life around.” He remembered being picked up late at night after she, Maeko Walker, collapsed at a game, fearing “it wasn’t gonna be good,” and watching doctors rush her through the hospital. Reese said that night changed his focus forever, crediting his mom for putting him in football and helping shape his rise.
