Love has a high ankle sprain after 14 touches in his preseason debut, per Adam Schefter. Arizona hopes he can return for the Week 1 matchup against the Chargers. Coach Mike LaFleur declined to specify the injury's severity beforehand. The Cardinals also worked out three running backs Saturday, signing Montrell Stewart for added depth behind James Conner and Tyler Allgeier.

John Niland, Cowboys Super Bowl VI Champion, Dies at 82

Niland, a three-time All-Pro guard who helped the Cowboys win Super Bowl VI, has died at 82. His daughter Haven said he died Saturday in McKinney, Texas. Niland made 111 starts in 124 games over 9 seasons with Dallas, earning six straight Pro Bowl selections from 1968-73. The Iowa product was taken fifth overall in the 1966 draft and is survived by his wife and two daughters.
