Mariners Make Bold $95M Bet on Top Prospect Colt Emerson
Seattle is betting big on Colt Emerson, agreeing to an 8-year, $95 million deal that includes a ninth-year club option, a full no-trade clause and escalators that can push the value past $130 million. The 20-year-old shortstop is the Mariners’ No. 1 prospect and MLB Pipeline’s No. 9 overall, despite not yet making his major-league debut.

Colt Emerson Deal Could Push Conor Griffin’s Price Even Higher
“It does move the market some,” Ken Rosenthal said of Emerson’s nine-year, $130 million deal, arguing it could raise Conor Griffin’s value too. He added Griffin, whom evaluators project even higher, “is now worth $150 or $160 [million]” if he waits, saying the shift comes less from performance and more from how Emerson’s contract reset expectations.
