Max Scherzer Becomes Only the Second Active MLB Player With 3,500 Strikeouts
Scherzer had four strikeouts in 3.1 innings in the Blue Jays' 7-4 loss to the Phillies. The three-time CY Young Award winner became just the 11th pitcher in MLB history with 3,500 strikeouts. Scherzer's former teammate Justin Verlander(3,554) is the only other active pitcher to hit the mark. The eight-time All-Star is nine strikeouts behind 10th-place Walter Johnson(3509) overall.
