Max Scherzer to Receive Cortisone Shot After Back and Left-Side Discomfort

Scherzer landed on the 15-day IL with back spasms on June 17. Manager John Schneider confirmed that the 8-time All-Star will head to Dallas to get a cortisone shot and return to Toronto over the weekend. The Blue Jays will then monitor and decide whether Scherzer is ready to face hitters or be sent for a rehab assignment.
