Monty Williams Is Collecting $19.6 Million This Season For Not Coaching

After Phoenix fired Williams in 2023, he still had about $20M over three years left. Detroit hired him in 2023 on a 6-year, $78M deal, and then dismissed him in 2024 with $65M over five years remaining. Those buyouts mean he is paid roughly $19,660,000 this season despite not coaching an NBA game.
