Shohei Ohtani Unlikely to Use Opt-Out if Mark Walter Sells Dodgers
Ohtani is unlikely to trigger his key-man opt-out even if Walter sells the Dodgers, a league source told The Athletic. The clause covers Walter or Friedman leaving, but Ohtani’s camp now trusts the club’s leadership and roster investment. Stan Kasten said the Lakers sale means “no changes here,” while Ohtani remains signed through 2033 amid another MVP-caliber season.

Umpires Eject Davis Martin After Hitting Sal Stewart in Helmet
Stewart crushed a solo homer off Martin in the first inning. In the third, the White Sox pitcher threw one over the rookie’s head before hitting him in the helmet with the next pitch. Benches cleared instantly with both teams rushing the field. Martin was ejected right away for the sequence of events that followed the earlier long ball.
