Study Finds Former NFL Players Face Higher ALS Risk Before Age 50

A new study found former NFL players are dying from ALS before age 50 at significantly higher rates than expected. Researchers identified 10 former players who died from the disease before turning 50 since 1960, despite statistical models projecting fewer than one case. The study also found former NFL players die from neurodegenerative diseases at nearly four times the expected rate.
