Tennessee Man Named Babe Ruth Charged in MLB Identity Fraud

Federal prosecutors allege George Herman Ruth, 69, used identities of 25 retired or deceased MLB players to claim class action settlements. Indicted on 91 counts including mail fraud and identity theft, he allegedly spent proceeds on trips to casinos. Sharing a name with Babe Ruth, the “Sultan of Swat,” the Tennessee man faces charges of laundering and fraud.
