Why Cori Close’s UCLA Breakthrough Meant So Much Across Women’s Basketball

After UCLA won its first national title, Chiney Ogwumike said the moment belonged to Close. She called the Bruins coach “a student of the game,” recalling how Close would show up with a notepad to learn from Tara VanDerveer while still building her own identity.
