“Chanko gives Islam some really tough rounds,” Mendez said, crediting his sparring partner for “defending and surviving on the ground, getting back up, or even attacking.” Mendez added, “Don’t look at him as just a Thai boxer. He’s the total package. He can do it all.” ‘Chanko’ (8–0), a multi-time Muay Thai world champion, earned a UFC deal on DWCS in October 2025.
