Team Khabib's Coach Believes Islam Makhachev May Have Only 2–3 Fights Left
“Islam is 34…a very healthy 34,” Javier Mendez said, estimating Makhachev has “two to three more title defenses” left before retirement is realistic. Mendez added, “I don’t think past 35 he’s going to want to continue,” but stressed there’s “no reason to stop him” while he’s still “hungry” and “looking fantastic.” Now a two-division champ (28-1), Makhachev is targeting a first 170-pound defense against Kamaru Usman.
