Carson Benge Credits Juan Soto, Mets Veterans for Early Spring Help

“Definitely all of them,” Benge said when asked which veterans have helped his adjustment to big-league life. He singled out Tyrone Taylor, Juan Soto, the rest of the Mets outfielders, and Simeon Woods Richardson, adding, “all those guys have been really kind to me.” The young outfielder’s comments reflect a welcoming clubhouse as he settles into camp.

Juan Soto Homers as Dominican Republic Mercy-Rules Netherlands 12-1

Soto homered and went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs, two walks, a strikeout and a stolen base as the Dominican Republic routed the Netherlands 12–1 under the WBC seven-inning mercy rule. The blast capped a six-run fifth that blew the game open and capped a dominant offensive showing for the hosts. DR will play against Israel on Monday.
