“Top of the Top”: Juan Soto After Walk-Off HR Seals DR Mercy-Rule Win

Soto celebrated after the Dominican Republic routed the Netherlands national baseball team 12–1. “2019 and 2024, those were really fun teams I played with, but this has to be top of the top. You have the whole family, the whole Dominican Republic, cheering for you,” Soto said. Soto's walk-off homer helped the team mercy-rule the Netherlands.

Soto homered and went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs, two walks, a strikeout and a stolen base as the Dominican Republic routed the Netherlands 12–1 under the WBC seven-inning mercy rule. The blast capped a six-run fifth that blew the game open and capped a dominant offensive showing for the hosts. DR will play against Israel on Monday.
