Freddy Peralta Praises Francisco Alvarez’s Winning Mindset With Mets

“I think it’s going really well,” Peralta said of working with Alvarez after speaking with him even before spring training. The Mets right-hander said Alvarez “wants to win” and “cares about performance,” calling that “number one.” Peralta added Alvarez pushes everyone to do well “for ourselves, for the team, for everything,” setting the tone early in camp.

Soto homered and went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs, two walks, a strikeout and a stolen base as the Dominican Republic routed the Netherlands 12–1 under the WBC seven-inning mercy rule. The blast capped a six-run fifth that blew the game open and capped a dominant offensive showing for the hosts. DR will play against Israel on Monday.
